Austin Dillon Survives Last Lap Melee to Earn Sixth Place Finish in Rheem Chevrolet and take Control of Owner’s Point Standings

“It’ pretty difficult to put yourself in position in those closing laps. You want to be there but you really never know what the best position is. Sometimes second or third is the best. Coming to the line first takes a lot of luck at these places. I had some help at the end with my teammate Brendan Gaughan in the No. 62 South Point Chevrolet but we really couldn’t go. I was watching the outside line coming to the checker flag but it just never had enough momentum. I just kept pushing Jeremy Clements in the No. 51 and it worked out. We ended up sixth. Congratulations to Jeremy Clements. That was probably his best finish so that was pretty awesome for him. I just want to thank Rheem again for this opportunity each and every week. I’m having a good time.”

Wild Talladega Superspeedway Race Ends with 20th-Place Finish for Ty Dillon and the Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Team

“Sometimes you’ll have days like today. We just never really got up front or had much help getting us there. Several times we tried making a move and it just didn’t work out in our favor. We had a really fast Chevrolet Camaro today and for most of the race it was great. I still love superspeedway racing, but sometimes it can be frustrating. I’ll go back and re-watch the race tonight to see what I can learn for the next time.”

Brandon Jones Leads Race-High 36 Laps in Okuma Chevrolet at Talladega Superspeedway

“It was definitely fun leading laps. I think all in all we had a great Okuma Chevy. We put ourselves in the right position at the right time for most of that race. We led the most laps and got some great experience up front. I think we can take a lot of that to Daytona in July and it’s going to be a good one. We’ve got a great car to take there. With minimum damage, this Chevrolet Camaro is going to be a good one to bring back.  I do need to say thanks to everyone from Okuma for riding along with us this weekend.  The support that they provide to RCR and ECR is vital to our success.”

Brendan Gaughan Cruises to Fifth-Place Result in Green-White-Checkered Finish at Talladega Superspeedway

“My guys did an excellent job on pit road. Shane made all the right calls to get fuel and save time when it counted and we ended up with a top-five finish. I worked really hard at the beginning of my career to get on and off pit road and it paid off today, especially when we served our penalty for locking bumpers.  During the green flag stop, we came from 15th to fourth. If anyone tells you this type of racing is boring I challenge them to run 200 mph, one inch from each other. It is mentally grueling and stressful. Today we had a great South Point Chevy. We kept it mostly in one piece. This is a fun place; it’s Talladega.”
