Elliott Will Leverage Proven Success at Iowa This Weekend

NAPA AUTO PARTS driver Chase Elliott will a carry a stout average finish of 4.7 at Iowa Speedway into a Saturday night race under the lights this weekend. Elliott holds only three starts on the .875-mile oval, but owns two top-five and three top-10 finishes in his NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) career at the facility.

The reigning NXS champion hopes to finish what he started at Iowa earlier this year. Last time out, the No. 9 team endured a disappointing setback that dropped Elliott from the lead to a runner-up finish. He led a race-high and career-high 114 laps, all before a late caution, less than a half of a mile from the white flag, spoiled the day and sent championship points leader Chris Buescher to victory. It was a stinging defeat for Elliott, but the day was not entirely lost. His second-place effort tied his best finish of 2015 and marked his best finish at Iowa Speedway.

After consecutive weeks of gaining ground in the championship points column, Elliott has his sights set on contending for his first 2015 win with 15 races remaining in the NXS season. After entering his 50th career NXS start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), 36 markers off first-place, Elliott finds himself 25 points back to Buescher, after picking up five points at NHMS and another six this past weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Tune in Saturday to watch Elliott and the No. 9 NAPA team as the XFINITY Series race from Iowa Speedway airs at 7:30 p.m. ET. MRN Radio/Sirius XM NASCAR Ch. 90 will carry the race starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.
