Armstrong Shoots for Second Top-10 of the Year in the Bluegrass State

Fresh off his best finish in the XFINITY Series, Dakoda Armstrong heads to Kentucky Speedway with a full head of steam. Sitting just 25 points out of 11th place in the points standings, the No. 43 WinField team has their eyes set on another Top-10 finish. Armstrong has a collection of solid performances at the track and looks forward to “slipping and sliding” around the weathered asphalt. Currently, Armstrong sits 12th in the XFINITY Series Championship Point Standings.

The No. 43 WinField team has finished in the Top-20 in three of the five intermediate races this season. The team will look to its notes from Chicago, also a heavily weathered track, to a build a balanced setup.

Armstrong has a total of eight starts at Kentucky in different racing series, including one ARCA Racing Series, four Truck Series and three XFINITY Series starts. In those eight starts, he has one Top-10, three Top-15 and two Top-20 finishes with a best finish of ninth in the fall Truck Series race in 2011.

“Kentucky is an interesting track. It has a lot of character. The frontstretch is very bumpy, and the surface is heavily weathered. This track is a lot fun to drive but creates a big challenge when finding the proper setup. A great shock package is key to being fast here. The car has to be soft enough to go over the bumps but firm enough to carry speed through the corners. The tire fall off here is unreal. You have just a few laps before the lap times drop off considerably. I think all drivers look forward to coming here. They may not like the frontstretch very much, but the rest of the track makes up for it. This place has been good to me. We know we’re strong at the mile-and-a-half tracks. Now, we just need the finish to prove it.”
