Chris Buescher Keeps Points Lead With 11th-Place Finish

Roush Fenway Racing’s Chris Buescher finished 11th in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  The driver of the No. 60 Roush Performance Ford Mustang retains the series points lead with the top-15 finish.

“It wasn’t a bad day for our Roush Performance Mustang, but we obviously want to be better,” said Buescher.  “Charlotte has not been a good track to me yet, but it will be alright.  We’ll brush it off and go on to Dover.  I love Dover, so we’ll get them there.”

Buescher lined up 14th for the 200-Lap, 300-Mile race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  From the drop of the green, Buescher settled into 18th, informing his team that his Mustang needed to be tighter.

Crew chief Scott Graves received the opportunity to adjust on Buescher’s No. 60 Roush Performance Mustang when the caution waved on Lap 48.  Buescher visited pit road on Lap 50 for four tires and fuel, along with spring rubber and track bar adjustments.

A quick pit stop gained Buescher two positions, putting him in 16th for the restart on Lap 56.  Over the course of the next green flag run, Buescher was able to gain some ground, maneuvering his Mustang into the top-15.

Buescher made his way down pit road under the green flag on Lap 101 for four tires, fuel and a round in the right rear.  The caution flag was displayed shortly after the completion of green flag pit stops.

Graves made a quick call to bring Buescher back down pit road under yellow on Lap 111 for four tires, fuel and a slight track bar adjustment.

On Lap 124, Buescher radioed to the team that he thought there were a piece of debris on the grille of his Mustang as the temperature had started to rise.  Just a few laps later, Buescher was able to connect with his Roush Fenway teammate Elliott Sadler to help remove most of the debris.

The sophomore in the NASCAR XFINITY Series battled a tight Mustang for the remainder of the race, crossing the finish line in 11th.

With the result, Buescher holds on to the lead in the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings, with a four point margin over second-place.  The series will return to action at Dover International Speedway on Saturday.
