Chastain 27th at Bristol

A strong run by rookie Ross Chastain ended in a 27th-place finish in Saturday’s Drive To Stop Diabetes 300 Xfinity Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Chastain was challenging for a top-10 spot in the race’s final segment when a broken rod sidelined him.

“I was hoping we could move on up into the top 10,” Chastain said. “We really had a super car. I wish we could have shown what we could do.”

Chastain finished one spot in front of JD Motorsports with Gary Keller teammate Landon Cassill and two spots in front of teammate Harrison Rhodes.

Chastain dropped to 13th in series points.
