McClure’s Thoughts on Receiving Emory & Henry Alumni Award

Despite the NASCAR XFINITY Series experiencing its first off-week of the season, Eric McClure remained busy.  Prior to leaving town for scheduled business meetings this afternoon, McClure was presented with the A.L. Mitchell Young Alumnus of the Year Award at his Alma Mater, Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia.  Today, Emory & Henry College was holding its annual Founder’s Day ceremony.

McClure’s thoughts on receiving such a prestigious award:

“I am extremely honored to have been selected to receive the A.L. Mitchell Young Alumnus of the Year Award from Emory & Henry College.  Given the college’s rich tradition of experience, the distinguished alumni that have excelled professionally, and the namesake of the award, to be this year’s recipient is very humbling.  I’m very fortunate to be able to compete as a professional athlete, but I’ve always said that the opportunity I have as a driver, as well as to oversee a business that specializes in Motorsports Management, Hospitality, and Activation, is a direct result of the education I received.  I’m grateful my parents pushed me to an education and that I was able to attend an institution that challenged me, nurtured me, and allowed me to grow as a person.  Because of that I was able to feel and live a childhood dream.  I’ll always be grateful to Emory & Henry College.”
