Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma Featured on Betty Crocker Packaging at all Kroger Stores

June 21, 2012 - The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma will be featured on six Betty Crocker packages at all Kroger stores around the United States as part of the "Bake for a Better Tomorrow" campaign. Packaging will be in stores beginning June 19.

The special-edition packaging features NASCAR owner Richard Childress and his wife Judy Childress, co-founders of the Childress Institute, as well as Jeff Burton, driver of the No. 31 Wheaties Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

"Betty Crocker is all about family and great recipes and is proud to support the Childress Institute," said Kelly Kaiser with General Mills. "We are donating $15,000 to the Childress Institute to support this cause very near and dear to our friend Richard Childress' heart."

"The Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma is grateful to General Mills and their Betty Crocker brand for helping us raise awareness about the No. 1 killer of children in America," said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing and co-founder of the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma. "More than 12,000 kids die every year from serious injuries, which is more than all other causes combined. No matter the age of the child, or the cause of injury, The Childress Institute wants to help all children have a better tomorrow by promoting a model level of care from the point of injury through treatment and recovery."

The Childress Institute is thanking fans for their support by launching the Race Weekend Sweepstakes. The winner will receive a weekend travel package for two to the Cup race on October 7, 2012, including plane tickets, garage passes, tickets in the stands, and hotel accommodations. The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $3,000.
