BK Racing to Field Third Car for David Reutimann

BK Racing announced today its plans to run a third car for David Reutimann in eight NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) events, including this week’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Reutimann will pilot the No. 73 Burger King/Dr Pepper Toyota in each NSCS race that he doesn’t drive for Tommy Baldwin Racing. Landon Cassill will remain in the No. 83 car and Travis Kvapil will remain in the No. 93 car for the rest of the season.

Reutimann has run two events with BK Racing this season driving the No. 93 car, the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway and the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. .

“Everyone at BK Racing is excited to solidify a third car on our team for David Reutimann,” said Scott Gunderson, president of BK Racing. “I know that he will strengthen our organization with the talent and experience that he brings to the table. Reutimann has been a big part of BK Racing this year and we look forward to working with him for the rest of the season. I want to thank Burger King and Dr Pepper for helping make this happen.” .

BK Racing’s No. 73 team has entered one event this season, the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Kvapil was behind the wheel. Because the team runs a limited schedule, it was outside the top-35 in the owner point standings and had to qualify into the race on time. Kvapil made the show, qualifying 33rd and finishing 32nd, following a fuel pressure issue. Four cars failed to make the race. .

“The 73 team has already proven to be a contender,” Reutimann said. “BK Racing has great equipment and personnel. They’ve shown that they can get the job done and I’m really excited to continue racing with them. We’re already off to a good start and the team is continuing to improve. Travis and Landon are terrific teammates and I think having a third car among us will give us better information and more resources to keep strengthening.” .
