Darlington Raceway announces 2017 Start Times

Darlington Raceway and NASCAR announced that the NASCAR Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500®, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, will start at 6 p.m. ET.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 race will compete Saturday, Sept. 2, at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Both events are scheduled to be televised live on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network, as well as SiriusXM Channel 90.

“We are extremely excited about our NASCAR doubleheader and how our fans, drivers, partners, and other stakeholders have embraced our throwback weekend,” track President Kerry Tharp said. “NBC Sports is a terrific broadcast partner and continues to elevate NASCAR racing across all of its platforms, including its all sports network, NBCSN, and we’re looking forward to being a part of their lineup for the 2017 season.”

NBC has supported Darlington Raceway’s historic celebration of the sport with a throwback-style broadcast reminiscent of the time period the track is celebrating (2016 is 1975-84).

In 2015, NBC used one of its original versions of its logo during the weekend, while the announcers wore period clothing during the broadcast. A portion of the Bojangles’ Southern 500 was broadcast by legends Ken Squier, Ned Jarrett and Dale Jarrett.

NBC will support the track’s throwback campaign again in 2016.
