Rain Washes Out South Boston Speedway Racing Action

Persistent late afternoon and early-evening rain coupled with weather forecasts calling for continuing rain through the evening forced South Boston Speedway officials to cancel Friday night’s Dr. and Mrs. Maresca of St. Lawrence Radiology Presents Thunder Road Harley Davidson NASCAR Whelen Late Model 200 racing program.

Friday night’s Dr. and Mrs. Maresca of St. Lawrence Radiology Presents Thunder Road Harley Davidson NASCAR Whelen Late Model 200 racing program has been rescheduled for Saturday night, August 29, and will feature the same lineup of races – a 200-lap race for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division drivers and teams, a 100-lap Limited Sportsman Division race and a 50-lap race for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division competitors. A 15-lap race for the Budweiser Hornets Division has also been added to make it a four-race card.

To top off the night on August 29, South Boston Speedway will stage a colorful dazzling fireworks show at the conclusion of the night’s racing action.

The same race day schedule that was in place for Friday night’s Dr. and Mrs. Maresca of St. Lawrence Radiology Presents Thunder Road Harley Davidson NASCAR Whelen Late Model 200 racing program will be used on August 29.

NASCAR racing action returns to South Boston Speedwayon Saturday, July 11 for the 7 p.m. running of the CenturyLink Presents Whelen Night NASCAR Late Model Twin 75’s racing program.

Seven races will be featured for the night, with twin 75-lap races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division headlining the action. A 50-lap race for the Limited Sportsman Division competitors, twin 25-lap races for the Modified Division, a 30-lap race for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and a 15-lap race for the Budweiser Hornets Division round out the night’s action.

Registration and pit gates will open at 2 p.m., with practice going from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:30 p.m. The first of the night’s six races will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

Adult admission is $10, with kids ages six and under admitted free. Tickets for the rained out June 20 event will be honored at this event.
