Local Brews, Games and Comfort Foods Featured at Finger Lakes Beer Festival

Presenting sponsor of Watkins Glen International’s Finger Lakes Beer Festival, the Finger Lakes Beer Trailis proud to boast that over half of the participating breweries are members of the growing beer trail. On Saturday, October 25, from noon to 5 p.m., festival guests will get the opportunity to taste amazing brews and enjoy hearty food.

In addition to a variety of beer being served, delicious food offerings are available for purchase, including turkey legs, hot pretzels, pierogies, Budweiser Yancey’s Fancy Cheddar Potato Soup and much more.

While filling up on great beer and good food, guests can also participate in a variety of contests, including a 32-team single elimination cornhole tournament. For guests looking to prove their strength, WGI will host a stein holding competition, challenging patrons to hold a 34-ounce mug of ice cold New York State beer in an attempt to be the last person standing. The final contest of the festival will be the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Finger Lakes Beer Festival. Contestants simply dress in traditional Oktoberfest costumes in order to compete. There will be prizes for each competition.

“Our newest fall event continues to grow as the region’s beer trail and popularity of micro-brews are on the rise,” stated Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. “Our focus on brews and foods during peak season for fall foliage in upstate New York makes this festival special, as we finish our last event at Watkins Glen International and gear up for 2015!”
