Iowa Speedway to Unveil Innovative Social Media Element During NASCAR Nationwide Series Weekend

Iowa Speedway will debut a special 6.5-feet-by-28-feet social media visualization element for fans Friday, August 1 – the first of its kind in motorsports and part of the official partnership between NASCAR and Hewlett-Packard (HP). The NASCAR Social Wall Powered by HP will offer a place for race fans to see live posts from drivers, media, fans and industry personalities while sharing their own thoughts via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

“Being able to unveil this amazing installation during our race weekend is another example of NASCAR’s commitment to the state of Iowa and our fans,” said Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small. “Focusing on the event experience at Iowa Speedway is directly in line with NASCAR’s Industry Action Plan.”

The NASCAR Social Wall Powered by HP will be located on the concourse across from the Newton Club near Ticket Booth 2. The wall will feature LED display screens powered by HP and will aggregate tweets and public commentary from Facebook and Instagram to keep fans at the speedway up-to-date on what’s trending.

“This fully-integrated social media experience is an added value to our fan base,” Small said. “This gives us an opportunity to engage our fans with content in real time. They can see their updates and those of fellow fans at the track and beyond. It will be like having a giant Tweetdeck and Facebook news feed right in the middle of our concourse.”

Official partner HP has worked with NASCAR to develop the technology to power the wall and social media vendor Wayin for the creative graphics. Both HP and Wayin will be on-site in Iowa. Fans can post directly from Iowa Speedway, using the official hashtag, #NASCARIowa.
