K&N Pro Series East To Wrap Up Season At Dover

Riley Herbst will make his return to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East as the circuit wraps up its 2016 season in Delaware at Dover International Speedway on Friday.

Herbst, who drives the No. 19 NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry for Bill McAnally Racing, has two top-10 finishes in two K&N East starts.

The 17-year-old rookie from Las Vegas finished ninth in making his series debut in the season opener at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway in February and followed that up with a 10th-place finish at Bristol (Tennessee) Motor Speedway in April.

Herbst is running the full schedule in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West this season, while also competing in select K&N East races. He is sixth in the championship standings of the K&N West and third in rookie points – with seven top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 13 races so far this year.

He has come on strong in the second half of the season – propelled by five consecutive top-five finishes that included a career-best third-place finish on three occasions.

“I’m excited and look forward to going back and competing again with the drivers in the K&N East,” said Herbst, who will be making his first visit to the track known as the Monster Mile. “Dover looks like a really fun track, and a fast track.”

With his top-10 finishes in the K&N East earlier in the season, Herbst is optimistic of doing well in his return.

“I’m confident we can run well,” he said of his BMR team. “We just need to improve on those finishes. I know we can do it as a team. I’m looking for us to put all the pieces together at Dover in going for a win.”

Dover International Speedway has hosted 15 stand-alone K&N East events since 1998. In addition, the series competed at the track in 10 combination events with the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Race winners among the stand-alone races included Jimmy Spencer, Brett Moffitt, and Darrell Wallace Jr.

The K&N East race from Dover will be televised on NBCSN on Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. ET.
