Rev Racing gears up to take on “The Fastest Short Track on the Planet” this weekend at Iowa Speedway. The Casey’s General Store 150 will be the 10th of 14 races on the 2016 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule and will be the series’ 14th visit to Iowa Speedway. This weekend’s race will also welcome the NASCAR K&N Pro Series teams from both the East and the West, making this the only combination race of the 2016 season.
Coming off of a rough weekend in Loudon, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Rev Racing is ready for redemption with the 0.875-mile D-shaped oval track. With three of the four drivers having experience at or on this type of track, Rev aims to advance in the point standings.
Collin Cabre (No. 2 UTI/NTI Toyota) – Collin Cabre will head into this weekend ranked 9th in points. This will mark the third trip to Iowa Speedway for Cabre. Cabre and team will aim for a top-5, after a frustrating finish in Loudon due to mechanical issues.
Ruben Garcia (No. 6 Special Smiles Toyota) – Ruben Garcia, ranked 11th in points, will head into the weekend with some related-track experience as well, although he has never run at Iowa Speedway. Garcia, who also drives in the Súper Copa TELCEL Series, runs on a track that is almost an exact match to Iowa Speedway in Aguascalientes, Mexico. With this track experience, he and his crew will take advantage of this related seat time as they prepare their strategy for race day.
“We are looking forward to Iowa with Ruben,” says Crew Chief Steve Plattenburger. “This track is a lot like Aguascalientes. It will be a little different in how he drives it, concerning the difference in horsepower. We worked on a few things for him; to get through the center of corner better and are hoping for a solid top-10 finish in his first East/West combination race.”
J.A. Junior Avila (No. 42 L&M Ethanol Toyota) – Avila, currently 12th in points, hopes to also lock in a top finish at this weekend’s Casey’s General Store 150. Avila, who has run Iowa in the 2014 K&N West/East combination race, is excited to see what he and his team are capable of. Avila, with a 19th place finish in Loudon, is focused on communication and a successful race start position.
Ali Kern (No. 4 Max Siegel, Inc. Toyota) – Kern, driver of the Max Siegel, Inc. Toyota, is hoping to bounce back after a tough race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Kern, who also faced mechanical issues, struggled to get her laps back after two additional pit stops. Kern is currently 14th in points.
Qualifying for the Casey’s General Store 150 will be on Friday, July 29th at 5:00 p.m., followed by the 150-lap race at 8:00 p.m. Follow @RevRacin on Twitter for live race updates.
