Dean Stoneman Wins Indianapolis Freedom 100

Dean Stoneman, driver of No. 27 Stellrecht Company car for Andretti Autosport is the winner of today’s Freedom 100 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Stoneman started today’s race from the fifth position, and he claimed victory by just .0024 of a second.

Today’s win marks the second consecutive Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires victory for the 25-year-old rookie and the second win for Andretti Autosport in the 2016 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season.

The Englishman joined Andretti Autosport for his first Mazda Road to Indy season this year from the European racing circuit. Prior to driving for Andretti Autosport, Stoneman competed in the World Series by Renault, FIA GP3, Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain and he won the Formula 2 Championship in his early years.

Today’s win is the 30th win for the Andretti Autosport Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Program. Since 2005, Andretti Autosport has earned two series titles (‘08/Matos and ’09/Hildebrand).

Andretti Autosport fields three full-time entries in Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, with Stoneman, Shelby Blackstock (No. 51 Starstruck) and Dalton Kellett (No. 28 K-Line Insulators USA, Inc.).
