Sargeant & Hemric Hoping for Snowball Derby win with Wauters

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers, Dalton Sargeant and Daniel Hemric will be piloting the Wauters Motorsports Super Late Model (SLM) entries in the 48th Annual Snowball Derby at 5 Flags Speedway, December 6, 2015.

Sargeant, the 17-year-old high school senior, was the runner-up in the 2014 Derby piloting the No. 5 GALT Toyota Camry for Wauters Motorsports and hopes to advance one spot this year and claim the Tom Dawson Trophy.

“The best short track race all season is right around the corner so we’re all really looking forward to the Snowball Derby, it’s something we’ve been working towards all year. Every time we’ve been on track this year at 5 Flags Speedway with the GALT Wauters Motorsports Toyota Camry it’s been toward this weekend.  We’re taking a brand new car which we’re really confident in but at the same time it’s really hard not to bring last year’s car that we finished 2nd with. I replay last year’s Derby over in my head all the time, how I could’ve beat Nemechek because we were so close there at the very end. This year hopefully we’ll be in that same position and contend for the win.” Dalton Sargeant said.

Hemric has three previous Derby starts leading in two of the three events and was considered a serious contender for the win in 2014 but he was caught up in a crash in the late stages of the 300 lap race.

“The Snowball Derby is the pinnacle for super late model racing, and short track racing in general. Every year that there’s an opportunity to go run this event; I find it to be a huge honor. As a team, we have to go south and focus on trying to lock ourselves into the show qualifying night, and if we can do that, Sunday will be all about execution and putting ourselves into position late in the race to have a shot at it. Just really thankful for “First Community Bank of Santa Rosa, California” for making it a reality to go chase the Snowball one more time!” Daniel Hemric said.

Wauters Motorsports finished second with Sargeant in 2014 and won the coveted 2004 Snowball Derby with Steven Wallace.
