3 NASCAR Hall of Fame Legends to Appear at Humpy Wheeler’s House for Promoter’s Retreat

Speedway Benefits, the trailblazer in growing, educating and supporting grassroots racing and the promoters and track owners that are the backbone of this industry, has announced a very unique opportunity.  Chairman, H.A. ‘Humpy’ Wheeler, legendary NASCAR promoter and respected 55 year veteran of the industry, will be hosting a one day event at his private residence in the foothills of North Carolina.

“I have a long and exciting career in the motorsports industry, but I have many friends and colleagues whose stories and experience rival mine! These gentlemen are truly the legends of motorsports and have so much to offer young promoters, veteran promoters, and everyone in between. I cannot wait to introduce them to our attendees,” said Humpy Wheeler recently.

This unparalleled event has attracted attention of those who built the sport and helped grow its popularity through its rich and colorful history. Legends like Bobby Allison, with his super charged NASCAR career who never forget his grassroots fans, Junior Johnson, moonshine mogul and NASCAR pioneer, Tom Higgins, NASCAR journalist, and the quintessential ‘gentleman’ of racing, Ned Jarrett, will all be in attendance throughout the day.

The workshop will feature all new content, never before shared at Speedway Benefits’ previous shows at WARPA (Western Auto Racing Promoters Association), PRI-Indy (Performance Racing Industry) or the AARN/PPB Motorsports Show (Area Auto Racing News).

Attendees will learn how to write business plans for big events with Billy Thomas, special event mastermind from East Alabama Motor Speedway. They will also explore the biggest misconceptions in Public Relations and learn how to connect with the media from former reporter and columnist turned PR expert, Jon Show. They will host a round table session with Humpy Wheeler, Terri Marascio (social media expert) and Clint Elkins (track relations expert) on promotional ideas that really work and how attendees can apply them to their track. Trip Wheeler will also take a deeper look into sponsorship and the data that companies desire that make them turn over their checkbooks to your track.

“This is not really a workshop. It’s not a show. It’s not a conference. We actually didn’t really know what to call it to do it justice, because it’s never been done before. We’re presenting solid ‘classroom’ and hands-on learning, but with a twist. Just as you’re working on your business plan, Junior Johnson (who’s a phenomenal businessman, too) could walk in and tell you what you could do better, and yeah, you get to talk to him one on one. We’ll be sitting around a bonfire after the workshop talking about what worked, what didn’t, what mistakes others have made and celebrating the successes. That’s really what will resonate with promoters. They will be blown away,” said President of Speedway Benefits, Trip Wheeler.

The Promoter’s Retreat will be held on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 just outside Charlotte, NC and is open to all racetrack promoters, track owners, series directors and associations. The cost is $299/person and includes lunch, dinner, cocktails, transportation to and from host hotel, and all materials. Please register or RSVP by Friday, February 6, 2015.
