Plumb Brothers Co-Drive To Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Win

Brothers Matt and Hugh Plumb co-drove the Rum Bum Racing Porsche 911 to victory in Friday’s BMW Performance 200 at Daytona International Speedway, the season-opening race for the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.

The Plumbs started second in the field of 56 production-based sports cars. They claimed the Grand Sports class and overall title, beating the second-place Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R of Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis by 6.972 seconds. The duo of Lawson Aschenbach and Matt Bell, also in a Camaro, rounded out the podium.

For Matt Plumb, it was a third Daytona victory. For his brother, it was a Daytona breakthrough.

“And it was business as usual for our guys,” Matt said. “The pit work, the strategy, the preparation – all of that was at the top of the charts. Hugh and I had to just do our job and not let them down.”

The Street Tuner class was won by Luis Rodriguez Jr. and Spencer Pumpelly in a Porsche Cayman. Finishing second were Jeff Mosing, Eric Foss and Justin Piscitell, also in a Cayman; the ST podium was completed by Ted Giovanis and David Murry who co-drove a BMW 328i.
