Justin Boston wins pole for ARCA Kentucky race

Venturini Motorsports driver Justin Boston made his race sponsor proud by winning the pole for Friday night’s ZLOOP 150.  Boston turned a lap of 30.904 (174. 735 mph) and was the quickest time through all the testing, practice and qualifying at Kentucky Speedway.

Joining him alongside on the front row is points leader Mason Mitchell, who is coming off a runner-up finish at Salem Speedway last weekend.  Mitchell finished runner-up in last year’s Kentucky race and looks to make it one spot better on Friday night.  His closest chaser in the ARCA points, Grant Enfinger, qualified 12th for the ZLOOP 150.

All four Venturini cars qualified in the top eighth with Daniel Suarez (third), Cody Coughlin (sixth) and Brennan Poole (eighth) representing the stable.  All three drivers are making their first ARCA start on the 1.5 mile track.

Two Fords qualified in the top five, with Mitchell in second and Roulo Brothers Racing driver Kyle Weatherman in the fourth spot.  Weatherman, along with three of the four Venturini drives, is also making his Kentucky debut.  The 17-year-old is now old enough to run at tracks like Pocono Raceway and Kentucky.

Home-state favorite Ben Rhodes had the pole for awhile, before settling in the fifth spot.  Rhodes showed speed during Wednesday’s test and looks to bring the Bluegrass State crowd to their feet Friday night with a win in the ARCA race at Kentucky.  Will Kimmel was another driver showing speed and qualified seventh.  The younger Kimmel posted the quickest time during the test Wednesday and held the fastest speed, until Boston eclipsed his mark in qualifying Friday afternoon.

Last week’s winner at Salem, Tom Hessert qualified 15th, while his rookie teammate, Brandon Gdovic, qualified in the 11th spot.  Another rookie, Matt Tifft, slotted in the 10th spot.

The green flag for Friday’s night ZLOOP 150 drops shortly after 8 p.m. ET and will be shown live on FOX Sports 1.
