Brodie Kostecki Focused on the Future

Rather than focusing on the disappointment of a heartbreaking end to his last two NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events, 16-year-old Brodie Kostecki is focused only on the bright things to come for his Arcoplate No. 43 team.

For the second-straight race, Kostecki suffered failure – this time a fuel pump – while battling at the front of the field in the Biscuitville 125 on the road course of Virginia International Raceway on August 16.  Just as he got into a duel for the lead near the race’s halfway point, the car lost power and Kostecki was knocked from the race.

But that race is now in the past as Kostecki looks ahead to exciting events to come, including the next K&N East race at Greenville Pickens Speedway on September 6.

“We have one of the fastest cars in the series right now, so it’s kind of a bummer not to be able to finish these races,” said Kostecki.  “It’s disappointing because we had the speed again, but we just need to have some luck on our side.”

Kostecki started the Biscuitville 125 from the sixth position and remained in the top-five for most of the first half of the 55-lap race.  Just before the five-minute halfway break, while Brodie found himself in second and battling for the lead, but a failed fuel pump put him out of the race with a 20th-place result.

VIR was the site of a second heartbreaker in a row, as he won the pole and was at the front of the field at Watkins Glen (NY) one week earlier when a blown tire caused damage and ruined another strong run on a road course.

“Hopefully our changes at Greenville Pickens.  We’re going to do some testing and see if we can get our short track program to have the same speed like we’ve shown the past few weeks on the speedways and road courses.”

Before getting back to K&N East action on September 6, Kostecki will get back to his Late Model racing roots as he straps back behind the wheel of his NASCAR Late Model Stock Car for one of the most prestigious LMSC events in the Southeast.  The Bobby Isaac Memorial at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway will be Kostecki’s first Late Model event of the 2014 season.
