Justin Allison’s day ends early at Lucas Oil Raceway

Electrical issues ended Justin Allison’s night early at Lucas Oil Raceway in the SCOTT Get Geared Up 200.

“I couldn’t quite get comfortable with the track until the end of the second practice session,” says Allison. “The car felt great during practice, it just took me some time to learn the track and get use to it. We finally had a great run during qualifying and I was looking forward to a strong finish during the race.”

Allison posted the 5th fastest lap time during Menard’s Pole Qualifying. As the SCOTT Get Geared Up 200 progressed, Allison kept inside the top-10. When the first caution came out, Crew Chief Teddy Brown made the call for a track bar adjustment, a change of four Hoosier tires and to cap the No. 88 HaVACo Ford with Sunoco fuel, sending Allison out to 6th for the restart.

Allison maintained his position up until the second caution of the race. A few of the cars on the lead lap took tires while Allison stayed out to keep track position.

The third caution flew on lap 160 of 200 and the leader was involved in a crash. Brown once again brought the No. 88 Ford Fusion down pit road so the crew could service the car with four tires and make a track bar adjustment.

Allison lined up for the remaining laps. Once the green flag flew, the No. 88 Havacosales.com Ford made contact with the wall entering turn 1. With right side damage, the rookie would maintain the ninth position up until lap 197 when the No. 88 Ford starting backing down. Team BCR thought the car was out of fuel until realizing there were electrical issues. Allison finished the race in 13th, ending his top-10 streak.

“We were tight off and on throughout the race,” says Allison. “The car was strong all day and I was able to learn a lot from this track. Howard (Bixman) gave me advice all day, which helped me gain my confidence and improve our performance. I want to thank Team BCR for giving me a good car and we appreciate the support from our partners, Havacosales.com and Rush Racing Products. I’m really excited to get back to Pocono, since we ran really well there in June.”
