ARCA Scott Get Geared Up 200 Preview

The ARCA Racing Series returns to the Lucas Oil Raceway (LOR) at Indianapolis for the first time since 2012 Friday night.

The last race there saw Frank Kimmel break a four-year winless streak in ARCA.  It also got current points leader Mason Mitchell on the map.

Mitchell ran up front most of the night and brought home the car in fifth place in just his second ARCA start.

His closest points competitor Grant Enfinger made some news this week by moving over to Gallagher Motorsports for the remainder of the season.  Enfinger will continue to drive the No. 90, but instead will be a Chevrolet under the Gallagher camp.  Team BCR Racing will still have driver Justin Allison running a part-time schedule in the No. 88 Ford.

Another Ford team made a number switch.  Roulo Brothers Racing changed from No. 17 to 60 for Friday night’s race.  Kyle Weatherman returns to the wheel and turns 17 next month.

Venturini and Cunningham Motorsports recently tested at the .686 mile track in preparation for the race.  Shannon McIntosh will make her ARCA debut for Cunningham in the No. 72 Dodge.  Austin Wayne Self will look for better luck at the track this week after wrecking cars in both qualifying and the race last weekend at Chicagoland.

J.J. Haley returns to Venturini this week, driving the No. 66 Toyota.  Brennan Poole will make his first ARCA start of the season in the car next week at Pocono Raceway.  Haley’s teammate Cody Coughlin had a strong run at Chicagoland last week, grabbing his first top-five finish in the series.  The 18-year-old will look to carry the momentum into LOR Friday night.

Ken Schrader Racing will field two cars at LOR on Friday night.  The boss returns to the 52 car for the first time since Winchester.  Matt Tifft drove the car to a third-place finish at Chicagoland, but will be in the No. 11 Chevrolet this week.

For the first time in 10 years, A.J. Fike will run an asphalt race.  The driver can be seen running the ARCA dirt races at Springfield and DuQuoin every year.  Fike will also run at Berlin Raceway in two weeks.

Brandon Jones also returns to the series after winning his ARCA debut at Winchester earlier in the month.  He will again drive the No. 4 car for Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM).  Jones will look to become the second driver to win in their first two ARCA starts.  Alex Bowman was the only driver to do it in 2011.

The Scott Get Geared Up 200 will air live at 9 p.m. ET Friday night on FOX Sports 1.
