Brodie Back in Action at Richmond

The past few weeks have been quiet on the track for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East field, but the engines will fire back up this Friday, April 25 for the Blue Ox 100 at Richmond International Raceway in Virginia.

The return to action can’t come soon enough for the 16-year-old Brodie Kostecki.

When Kostecki ends the nearly five-week break since the series’ most recent event, he and the Arcoplate/Canine Companions for Independence No. 43 team will be looking to continue a steadily-improving rookie season.

The 16-year-old native Australian has improved on his finish in each of his four K&N East starts thus far in 2014 and has his sights set on continuing that trend in the Blue Ox 100.

“We’ve been pretty busy getting our steel-bodied car ready, our -110wheelbase car that we’ll use at the bigger tracks,” said Kostecki.  “Off our top10- finish at Greenville, the guys have been working really hard getting our cars ready to go for the next few races.”

Kostecki made his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut at Richmond last April.  Driving the Arcoplate No. 43, he qualified 17th and raced inside the top-10 during the race before running into some late-race bad luck that relegated him to a 25th-place finish.

“We didn’t run too bad at Richmond last year,” added Kostecki.  “The race was a bit of a demo derby towards the end and we got caught up in some of that.  Having raced at Richmond once already is definitely going to help things this weekend.

“When I first started in the K&N series last year, I was relatively inexperienced in a touring series that competitive.  Now that I’ve got some races under my belt and we’ve been progressing each week with some great, experienced people on my side, it’s really going to help now that I’m seeing some of these tracks like Richmond for a second time.”
